Skill Ready Techs is a credentialing and matching platform for the HVACR trade. We verify that a technician's EPA 608 credential is real, we test what they actually know, and we make that proof visible to the employers who need it.
Hiring in HVACR runs on trust that is hard to check. A resume lists certifications nobody verifies. An interview cannot tell you whether someone can diagnose a failed reversing valve or read a wiring diagram under pressure. Meanwhile skilled technicians lose out to whoever writes the better resume.
We built Skill Ready Techs to close that gap in the only way that holds up: verify the credential, test the knowledge, and publish the result.
We are not a trade school, and we do not train technicians from scratch. We are not a staffing agency, and we do not take a cut of anyone's wages or place people on assignment.
We do two things: verify EPA 608 credentials, and administer the Skill Ready Techs Competency Exam. The optional exam-prep study modules exist for one reason only — to help a working technician brush up before sitting the exam.
There is no central registry of EPA 608 certified technicians to query. Certification is issued by dozens of individually EPA-approved organizations, each holding only its own records, so no automated lookup is possible — by us or by anyone else. A technician uploads a photo of their physical card, an administrator reads it, and only then does the EPA 608 Verified badge appear.
50 multiple-choice questions plus 5 scenario-based troubleshooting questions, 60 minutes, closed book. You need 80% on the multiple-choice section and 60% on the scenarios. The same passing standard applies to every candidate regardless of who they work for or how long they have been in the trade.
A technician account is free and verified profiles are visible to employers at no cost to the technician. Employers search our database of technicians for free and only pay for messaging access. Nobody buys their way to the top of a search result — featured placement is an editorial decision, not a product.
Skill Ready Techs was created by people who have worked in HVACR service and hiring, and who got tired of watching good technicians go unnoticed while unverified claims sailed through. If you have feedback on the exam, the verification process, or anything else, we want to hear it.
